History of the Expansion Plans This page tells the history of the expansion plans and the underhand way in which they were recently changed. In March 2006 the Council proposed an expansion to primary provision in Bishopston by building a new 210-place primary school on the "Brunel College" site near the Cricket Ground. Several other options were considered for expanding the current Sefton Park site. These were all rejected because of space restrictions. You can read about it here. The Brunel College site was considered to be the best option for children In January 2008 there was an unexpected press release saying that the Sefton Park school site WAS to be expanded. The Council had done a U-turn. All consultation for this decision was done in secret. The minutes of the Cabinet meeting for January 2008 showed that the problems of space still remained. The only new development was a letter from the Gloucestershire County Cricket Club objecting to the Brunel College school site on the grounds that it made car parking difficult. So it seems to us that the decision is now being made not in the best interests of children, but of the Cricket Club.
